CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - Conway police tell Today's THV a toddler has drowned.
It happened around 11 a.m. at Westbury Apartments. Police say a maintenance man found two children in the pool. Police say the man is elderly and couldn't physically get the boys out of the pool called the apartment manager.
Police say the 3-year-old was shaken up but "OK," while 22-month-old Christopher Stewart was unconscious. The apartment manager performed CPR until an ambulance arrived. Christopher was transported to the hospital where he later died.
Police say Mekayla Mitchell, 26, was watching the children but fell asleep. She tells police that's when the boys must have gotten out.
Police tell Today's THV that the 3-year-old boy is Mitchell's son, but Christopher is her boyfriend's son.
Police are investigating to see if this is negligence. No names have been released.
