NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) Thousands of kids are heading back to school. Officers with the North Little Rock Police department are doing their part. They held their fifth annual event at the Shoe Carnival in Lakewood Village. Fifty children from North Little Rock chose a backpack, school supplies and received a $50 Shoe Carnival gift card to purchase a pair of tennis shoes.
"The first year we did this we had only backpacks and school supplies. We actually came up with the idea to include tennis shoes. And came up with the people of shoe carnival in Lakewood Villiage in NLR and they invite us into their store every year," says Officer Tommy Norman.
Principals and teachers pre-selected the lucky 50 children to receive school supplies and shoes.
