ISLAMABAD (AP) - There have now been at least two air strikes from American drones today in a Pakistani tribal area near the Afghan border. And Pakistani officials say 10 suspected militants have been killed.

They say the first trike targeted two vehicles near the Afghan border, killing at least seven militants. About 10 hours later, two missiles destroyed a home in the same area, killing three more.

The officials say the area is dominated by a commander whose forces often attack U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

Most Pakistanis feel that the drone strikes violate their country's sovereignty and kill innocent civilians. The U.S. maintains that they are directed against militants, and are necessary to combat groups like al-Qaida.
