Arkansas Breastfeeding Coalition Celebrates World Breastfeeding Month at CALS Main Library, Thursday, Aug. 23 5-7:30 p.m.
Arkansas moms and health professionals who are passionate about promoting breastfeeding can find out more about local initiatives to promote the practice
Join the Arkansas Breastfeeding Coalition at the Central Arkansas Library System Main Library to network, enjoy refreshments and hear from speakers. Martha Hall, an RN and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, will present a program on The Donor Milk Project at Arkansas Children's Hospital. Attendees will also hear from Dr. Jane Miers and Dr. David Grimes.
Rollin' on the River at Clinton Presidential Center, Saturday, Aug. 25 at 7:15 a.m.
Big Wheels keep on turnin'...along with bikes, strollers, wagons and wheelchairs at Rollin' on the River 5K Race and 2K Family Fun Walk, hosted by Easter Seals Arkansas.
In a special portion of the event called Wheelin' on the River, children ages 8 and under are invited to take their snazziest rides for a spin during the 2K Family Fun Walk. Prizes will be awarded to impressively decorated sets of wheels.
Or, avid runners can stretch their legs in a 5K. Teams are led by an Easter Seals Ambassador who has personally benefited from the organization's services.
Festivities will also include a children's play area, with bouncy houses, games and entertainment by Easter Seals children and adults.
Registration opens at 6:15 a.m.; 5K race begins at 7:15 a.m.; 2K walk starts at 8 a.m.
Cost: $25, children ages 2-12 $10.
Back to School Splash at Splash Zone in Jacksonville, Friday, Aug. 24 7:30-9:30 p.m.
Kids ages 11-15 are invited to slip, slide & dive into the night at the last bash of the summer.
Cost: Admission is $2 at the door, $1 more for slides. Must be 48 inches or taller to ride the slides. Concessions will be available. Event is Handicap accessible.
