BRYANT, Ark. (KTHV) -- There is one interesting way to boost the economy: a cash mob.

The Bryant Chamber of Commerce surprised a local business on Wednesday afternoon by spending a set amount of cash on their products.

Jac's Meat Block, at 5407 Highway 5 in Bryant, is the first to benefit from this idea; something the Chamber says is a proactive approach to boost small business.

Jeremiah Oltmans is the organizer, and a member of the Chamber of Commerce.

"It's a win-win situation for everybody. We sent out invitations to the board, and told all of the board to take a friend with them," Oltmans said.

Jody and Connie Murdock are the owners of Jac's Meat Block.

"We opened up a year ago, July 30th. So we're a little over a year old. We've been blessed. That's all I can say, we've been blessed," Jody said.

On Wednesday, 35 customers spent about an hour in the business. The Murdock's said Wednesday afternoons are typically slow, but today the cash mob generated $800 of additional business.

The Chamber of Commerce in Bryant hopes to do this event once a month, maybe even every other week, to boost small businesses.

Several other communities around the U.S. have organized similar "Cash Mobs" to help their membership.
