UNDATED (CNN) -- Scientists say they have discovered a new species of monkey.

The animal was found in the remote forests of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Well-known to local hunters the discovery was made by chance by a team of scientists.

The monkey was the pet of the local school director's daughter.
Scientists say it's only the second such discovery in 28 years.
