ANDOVER, Mass. (CNN/WCVB) -- A pediatric doctor in Massachusetts, also a clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School, hit with child pornography charges. Investigators say they seized as many as 100 DVD's and 500 photos featuring underage boys, from Dr. Richard Keller's home.
Many of the DVDs depicting naked boys were delivered to the Phillipps Academy Andover Health Center addressed to longtime medical director Dr. Richard Keller, according to prosecutors.
Keller resigned in May 2011, the same month federal agents raided a child pornography company in upstate New York.
That's where billing records showed Keller buying 50 separate titles for more than $2,600. Stephen Porter with Phillips Academy Andover says, "It came as a huge shock to all of us and we're working as closely as we can with the U.S. Attorney's office."
Phillips Academy officials told Keller's former campus neighbors not to speak publicly. Porter says, "We're not aware of any problems with PA students or situations where any students were harmed at all."
Keller and his girlfriend said he left the school to spend more time with family. They moved to this Andover home where the lights are still on from Thursday's morning raid more than a year after this investigation started. Neighbor Mary Carbone says, "What bothers me the most...They have a baby and I'm just sick out about this."
Keller managed to improve his professional resume treating kids with this case looming. He became pediatric endocrinologist at Boston Children's Hospital and an instructor of pediatrics' at Harvard.
"No complaints or concerns have been expressed by any patients or family members about the care dr. Keller provided while he was at children's," a spokesman said.
Back at Keller's home, agents found 500 glossy printouts of naked children and 60-100 pornographic videos with boys. Carbone says, "Part of me is angry and part of me is sad."
Keller is on administrative leave from the hospital and from Harvard Medical School, pending the results of the investigation.
