VAN BUREN, Ark. (AP) - A doctor and two other people are charged with cultivating marijuana at his Van Buren residence.

Police arrested 55-year-old Jimmy Acklin at his home on Thursday after police alleged that he was growing marijuana in the basement of the dwelling.

Also arrested were 46-year-old Jerry Thomas and 41-year-old Michele Thomas, who both lived with Acklin at the residence.

Prosecutors say all three were arrested on suspicion of manufacturing marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms.

The Southwest Times Record reports Acklin is the residency director at the Arkansas Health Education Center in Fort Smith.
