LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - An Arkansas Baptist College student was killed in a Thursday night shooting.
The Associated Press reports President Fitz Hill says a first-year student was killed near campus, but he didn't say the name. Police identify the shooting victim as Derek Olivier. He and two other students were changing a flat tire when the shooting occurred.
"Just spontaneous, ready to have a good time at any time," says Jeffrey Boutte, Olivier's cousin. "He was a football player here, that's what he wanted to do. Play football."
The shooter has not been identified but school officials say they don't believe the shooter is a student.
Police say there were several witnesses that were interviewed in the shooting.
The suspect is described as a male between 18-21-years-old, between 5'10" and 6' tall with slender build and about 150-160 pounds. He was carrying a semi-auto handgun.
This shooting is still being investigated.
