LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas' revenues are ahead of last year's figures and forecast, but finance officials say they're concerned about sales tax collections sliding for the third straight month.
The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration says the state's net available revenues in September totaled $494.7 million, which is $31.9 million above last year and $29.9 million above forecast. The state's revenues are ahead of forecast by $42.1 million for the year to date.
The state's revenues were boosted mainly by gains in individual income tax collections and withholding. The state's sales tax collections were below forecast and below last year's figures. The decline was in both business- and consumer-related categories, including automobile sales.
