UNDATED (Daily Mail UK) -- British superstar Adele is taking on the next James Bond film's theme song in style.

The song is for the latest Bond film Skyfall set to premier in U.S. theaters Oct. 26.

Today is the 50th anniversary of the film franchise. The first film, Dr. No, was released Oct. 5, 1962 with Sean Connery playing Bond.

Connery played Bond in six films including From Russia With Love (1963), Goldfinger (1964), Thunderball (1965), You Only Live Twice (1967).

After You Only Live Twice, George Lazenby took on the role of Bond for one film, On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969), but Connery returned to Bond's shoes for Diamonds Are Forever (1971).

Roger Moore then took over the role of Bond in 1973 and starred in seven Bond films starting with Live and Let Die. His other movies include The Man With the Golden Gun (1974), The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), Moonraker (1979), For Your Eyes Only (1981), Octopussy (1983), A View to a Kill (1985).

Timothy Dalton played Bond in two films, The Living Daylights (1987) and License to Kill (1989).

Starting with GoldenEye in 1995, Pierce Brosnan played Bond. His other Bond films are Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World is Not Enough (1999), and Die Another Day (2002).

This is where our current Bond, Daniel Craig, steps in. His first Bond film was Casino Royale (2006) and followed that with Quantum of Solace (2008).

Here's what we can look foward to in Skyfall according to PR Newswire:

Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.
