ST. PETER, MN (CBS/WCCO) -- Minnesota had some royal visitors.

The King and Queen of Sweden were in the state this past weekend.

King Carl the 16th and Queen Silvia arrived Thurseday night and were in St. Peter Friday for Gustavus Adolphus College's 150th anniversary celebration.

It's been a decade since the royal couple last visited Minnesota.

Saturday, Governor Mark Dayton hosted a reception for the king and queen at the governor's residence.

Sunday night, there will be a gala celebration with about 800 attending at a Minneapolis hotel.

Gustavas Adolphus College is an undergraduate, residential liberal-arts college. It was founded by Swedish Americans in 1862.

The school says it is firmly rooted in its Swedish and Lutheran heritage.
