CABOT, Ark. (KTHV) - The life of a firefighter in Cabot is remembered at his funeral Friday.

Firefighter Marty Stumbaugh was laid to rest Friday. He died of a kind of stroke called subarachnoid hemorrhage at 38.

He was leaving the Talladega Speedway with his friends after camping out on the track when he complained of a headache and collapsed.

Marty Stumbaugh was a dedicated firefighter, husband, brother and father of two.

A well known face in Lonoke County. Sadly, Stumbaugh died suddenly this past weekend.

Hundreds gathered to say their goodbyes.

The news of Marty Stumbaugh's death rippled through the community of Cabot this past week.  Marty's brother Stubby Stumbaugh says his brother meant a lot to many people.

"He was more about action than he was about words. He was 38 years old, a fireman for over 20 years here at Cabot."

"Stubby" was with Marty when he collapsed.  He remembers his brother as a person who loved life and his family.

"Wonderful wonderful fireman, but just an awesome daddy."

Marty's other family was his fellow firefighters. He served as president of the Cabot Professional Firefighters Association. "Stubby" says those who knew Marty are better people today thanks to him.

"My brother was so so good, but he enjoyed cracking jokes and different stuff. It's a sad sad day for this community."

Marty took a final ride on his company's engine.  A true testament to what he meant to this community.
