Household hazardous waste collection day in Garland County

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (Oct. 13, 2012) - Fall is here and that great environmental event is back with us, but with even more opportunities to do the right thing for your home and the environment.

Today, October 13th you can bring any hazardous waste you want to dispose of to the Garland County Fairgrounds (4831 Malvern Ave in Hot Springs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Items that will be accepted are: prescription drugs, over the counter (OTC) drugs, veterinary medications, Automotive fluids (not oil), paints, stains, thinners, solvents, pesticides (OTC), herbicides (OTC), pet care products, water based cleaners, bleaches, ammonia products, flammable liquids, passenger car tires, compressed gas cylinders, and electronic waste such as cell phones, computers, VCR's, DVD's, electronic games, monitors & TV's - up to 19".

Please note that fluids must be in original container with label attached. No lead acid batteries will be accepted. There will be a free paint exchange area.

This event is held in conjunction with Southwest Central Regional Solid Waste Management District, City of Hot Springs Sanitation Department, Garland County Department of Environmental Services, Drug Take Back Program by The Garland County Sheriff's Dept., with a bit of help from the Hot Springs/Garland County Beautification Commission.
