CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - After a two-year-old boy wanders off this morning, Conway police arrest his babysitter. The boy is okay.

Neighbors called police when they spotted the boy, who wasn't wearing any shoes, almost get hit by a car. The next hour-and-a half worried everybody as they tried to find this boy's home.

"I seen them [police] all walk up and down the street and trying to find the parents of the child," says Emogene Martin, a neighbor.

Conway Public Information Officer Latresha Woodruff says the grandmother called police after the boy's picture hit the news media.

Woodruff says the grandmother was "upset and horrified he had been out in the street."

That led authorities to arrest his 21-year-old babysitter, Stacey Hughey who told police she was asleep and also taking care of her own two young kids. Nyesha Taylor lives in the area and has a 5-year-old boy.

"That is very dangerous. We have 18-wheelers and constant traffic coming through this way," says Taylor.

Not the safest streets, but fortunately neighbors are looking out for one another.
