LONOKE, Ark. (KTHV) - According to the Lonoke County Sheriff's Office says they are investigating a contact case of tuberculosis at the county jail.

Sheriff Jim Roberson and Ed Barum with the Arkansas Department of Health are investigating.

Chief Deputy Dean White says there is only one case and according to Barum, this is not uncommon to investigate a contact case at a school, business, or jail.

Barum says this disease is not as deadly as it once was. Authorities are now better equipped to treat cases.
