MAYFLOWER, Ark. (KTHV) - Mayflower's police chief is suspended amid allegations of fraudulent paperwork.

The mayor's office said Chief Billy Baker is suspended with pay, pending the outcome of a hearing set for November 27th.

The Arkansas Office of Law Enforcement Standards is looking into allegations that Baker falsified training records. He's accused of saying his officers took a radar speed gun class, when they did not.

Sgt. Jeremy Hanson, the interim chief, spoke with Baker about the situation.

"He's waiting until the 27th and at that time he'll make a decision as far as what to do with his defense on it," Hanson said.

Hanson said if Baker is de-certified at next month's hearing, he will not be able to work for any law enforcement agency in the state.
