LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - In a THV Working for You, we're looking at ways for you to save on your cell phone bill.
Most Americans deal with high cell phone costs. The federal reserve reports the average individual's monthly bill is up to more than $70 dollars.
If you have multiple lines check into family share plans. A bundle data plan can save you costs depending on usage.
"You think about four lines, at one time that would've meant a $30 data plan for each line, well that's gone away. With the share everything plan, you can now have one bucket of data," says Prentice Oguinn with Verizon Wireless.
Also consumers can limit data usage on smartphones with restrictions from the carrier. This is especially resourceful for parents wanting to keep tabs on their child's smartphone time.
"You actually can get one gigabit of data all the way up to 20 gigabites of data. That's a huge gap. And we have so many different plans you can find the one that works best for you," says Oguinn.
The wireless provider can keep track of data for the consumer. Keep in mind most providers will send you text alerts of your data usage.
An important aspect to remember is coverage in your area. Be mindful of switching for the sake of saving, only to find out your coverage is spotty.
Check on discounts. Certain employers may offer employees discounts with mobile companies.
