LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas Supreme Court is slated to hear the appeal of a man convicted in the 2009 shooting deaths of five people.
Samuel Lee Conway's lawyers say he deserves another trial in part because of alleged problems with the jury in his original trial. Conway's lawyers will make their case to the state's high court on Thursday.
Conway was convicted of five counts of capital murder and sentenced to five terms of life in prison without parole in the deaths of five people in Garland County. He was also convicted of burglary and theft charges and received additional sentences.
The state says the court should uphold Conway's convictions, but even the state says Conway's case should be sent back for resentencing on the non-murder charges.
