NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Veterans Day is Sunday and volunteers are making sure the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock is ready to honor its own.
Volunteers placed American flags on the graves at the cemetery, which is located at 1501 West Maryland Avenue in North Little Rock, Thursday afternoon.
The placing of the flags comes a few days before the Veterans Day ceremony at the State Capitol rotunda. Governor Mike Beebe will give the keynote address at the annual ceremony, which starts at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11.
November 11 marks the 94th anniversary of the WWI Armistice signing, ending the war. In 1954, Congress passed an act to recognize all veterans on what is now known as Veterans Day.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony.
