CONWAY, Ark. (AP) - The Faulkner County prosecutor has waived the death penalty against a man charged in the shooting and stabbing death of his ex-wife's husband.
Clayton Monsees is charged with capital murder in the March death of Billy Joe Ewing at Ewing's home near Greenbrier. Amanda Ewing - Billy Joe Ewing's wife and Monsees' ex-wife - is charged as an accomplice.
Both Monsees and Amanda Ewing have pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutor Cody Hiland told the Log Cabin Democrat that there are circumstances in the case that he can't discuss.
Authorities say Ewing was shot in the throat and stabbed in the shoulder after arriving home on March 20 to find Monsees at his home.
