BARLING, Ark. (KTHV) - Engine trouble forced a pilot in Arkansas to make an emergency landing on a highway.

The plane had just taken off from an airport in Fort Smith Monday morning when something went wrong with the engine.

The pilot was able to land safely on a two-lane highway in Barling, just outside of Fort Smith.
The pilot was the only person on board and was not injured.

Several men and a state trooper had to push the plane off the highway until help could arrive to fix the engine.
