GRANT COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - Grant County investigators are working to identify a body discovered in a well Monday.
Sheriff Ray Vance said the department is not sure how long the body has been down there, and right now, the Sheriff's Office does not have a positive ID on the body or cause of death.
Sheriff Vance went on to explain that the landowners initially called him Monday morning and asked him to check on their well. He said he went to the well not knowing what he'd find.
"I went hoping for the best, but expecting the worst," explained Sheriff Vance, "and when I got there, sure enough, we discovered after I got there that it was a human."
Only one open missing person's case exists in Grant County that Sheriff Vance is aware of which has been open since 2004, but he said he doubts the body found belongs to that particular person.
The case has been turned over to the Medical Examiner's office.
THV 11 will continue to follow this case and bring you more information as soon as it becomes available.
