BRYANT, Ark. (KTHV) - A teenager is dead after police say he stepped in front of a train.
Bryant police got the call around 2:40 p.m. Monday from the Union Pacific Railroad that a train headed eastbound just hit a pedestrian.
Officials started their search along the tracks between Reynolds Road and S. Cherry Street.
According to the train engineer, the 17-year-old victim was crouched in the bushes next to the track. And as the train approached, the engineer said the victim stepped onto the tracks facing the train.
Police say the engineer told them he applied the emergency brakes immediately.
The family has been notified, but since the victim is a minor his name will not be released. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Saline County Coroner.
