LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - One of the first signs the holiday season is here. The Arvest Bank River Market Ice Rink opens to the public Saturday, Nov. 17 at 10 a.m.
This is the third year for the outdoor rink under the River Market Pavillion. Last year, more than 20,000 skaters took to the ice, and organizers said they expect the same turnout this year.
Diana Long with River Market Operations said skating at the rink has become a family tradition.
"It's a great date night, and it's just a great fun time to get a group of people out here. You get to laughing at each other and falling down together. It's just a lot of good fun," said Long.
Long said there will be several holiday events at the River Market Ice Rink this year. Ice sculpting and building a giant gingerbread house are the newest events. They will also bring back their 'Cocoa with the Clauses' event where skaters can have cookies, hot chocolate, and get their picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Clause.
The rink is open Nov.17 through Jan. 6. The price of admission is $9 per skater, and children under 4 can skate free with a paid adult. Group discounts are also available.
