NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The North Little Rock Police Department wants to remind motorists that seat belts are the best defense against motor vehicle crash related injuries and fatalities. However, still too many people are failing to buckle up.
Recent statistics show that over the previous Thanksgiving holiday period, 337 passenger vehicle occupants were killed as a result of motor vehicle accidents nationwide, with a staggering 55 percent of the fatality victims not wearing seat belts.
In an effort to help reduce the number of vehicular fatalities during this Thanksgiving travel period, the North Little Rock Police Department, along with other law enforcement agencies across the state and nation, will be participating in the national Click it or Ticket Day and Night campaign. The National Click it or Ticket Day and Night campaign will be directed at seat belt violators and will begin on November 19th and continue through November 25th.
The North Little Rock Police Department will schedule additional officers to patrol the streets during this Thanksgiving holiday period, so we are encouraging citizens all over to Click it, or run the risk of getting a ticket.
Fastening a seat belt only takes a second, and costs you nothing. Not wearing a seat belt this Thanksgiving holiday could cost you a ticket, or maybe even your life.
