MAUMELLE, Ark. (KTHV) - An Arkansas community is rallying around a 15-year-old sophomore Baseball player at Maumelle High School. Chad Cox, was recently diagnosed with Burkitts Lymphoma, a type of cancer.
As he undergoes aggressive treatment including chemo, his family, friends and teammates teamed up with Chad to help strike out the disease, and they did it one buzz at a time.
According to Deb Roush with the Pulaski County Special School District, several baseball teams gathered at Maumelle High School's baseball field in support of Cox. They shaved heads for donations to the family for his medical care.
Several hair dressers with Sports Clips donated their clippers and shears for the big event.
Cox was hoping to attend and shave his coach's head, but unfortunately, he wasn't able to make it.
