PARAGOULD, Ark. (AP) - A rice seed supplier says an Arkansas judge has dismissed a farmer's claim that its products caused him to reap an inferior crop.
RiceTec had sued Scott Meredith, seeking payment for rice he bought in 2009. Meredith filed a counterclaim, saying he was first due a reimbursement from the company for faulty seed.
The company said Tuesday that Greene County Judge David Laser had ruled against Meredith. Lawyers for the Delaplaine farmer couldn't be reached, with a secretary saying some were out of town on business and others had already left for the holidays.
Meredith and other farmers who temporarily joined his lawsuit claimed they had to replant entire sections of their fields and that rice they did harvest was difficult to mill. The company said its products are strong.
