Las Vegas, NV (Sports Network) - Sam Dekker led five teammates in double
figures with 19 points as the Wisconsin Badgers defeated the Arkansas
Razorbacks, 77-70, as part of the championship round of the 2012 Las Vegas
Invitational at Orleans Arena.
Dekker shot 7-of-13 from the floor in the Wisconsin (4-2) victory. Ryan Evans
scored 12 points and Jared Berggren added 10 points and was one rebound shy of
a double-double. Mike Bruesewitz and Traevon Jackson contributed 11 points
apiece in the triumph.
For the Razorbacks (3-2), BJ Young recorded a team-high 18 points to go with
five rebounds. Mardracus Wade was the only other Razorback in double figures,
recording 13 points in the setback.
Arkansas shut down Wisconsin in the first half, allowing only 10-of-31 from
the floor for the Badgers. Arkansas shot an impressive 51.9 percent from the
field, giving it a 40-29 lead at the half.
Wisconsin blew the Razorbacks out in the second half, outscoring them 48-30.
The Badgers made good on 66.7 percent from the field in the period, compared
to a mere 11-of-34 (.324) for Arkansas.
Wisconsin was 42.1 percent from long-range, shooting 8-of-19, while the
Razorbacks made only 3-of-8 from beyond the arc.
