LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Little Rock police arrested a 21-year-old Monday after he reportedly tried to cash in stolen lottery tickets.
At 9:15 Monday morning, police were called to the Mapco at 12th Street and Fair Park Blvd. about someone trying to cash in stolen lottery tickets.
The cashier called police after she learned from the lottery commission that the tickets were stolen. The suspect, Cedrick Qualls, was locked inside the store until police arrived.
The 21-year-old from Stuttgart was taken into custody but while being walked to the police vehicle, he broke away from the officer and fled.
Qualls was located at the nearby LaQuinta Inn, where he was arrested in a room along with two other subjects inside. A police report states that in the room, police found a bag full of lottery tickets and a stolen gun stashed in a microwave.
Qualls was arrested and booked at the PCSO Detention Facility. He is charged with theft, lottery fraud, and escape.
After investigation, police released the other two individuals without charges.
