LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - During the holidays, there are so many areas of your house that need a little touch of decoration here and there, and those spaces need more than just a Christmas tree. You might even want to think about decorating your mantels.
Mantles are usually a major focal point in our homes, and for me, there is no exception.
For my mantel, I put a nice, lighted garland on my fireplace and stuffed it full of ornaments, which were just different types of ornaments that I had left from the Christmas tree.
If you have a flat screen TV over your mantel, play an old fashioned movie when you have guests over, and they'll love it! Just remember to put it on mute.
If you're looking for something to go around the TV, you can do what I did. I found four metal deer heads at a local store and spray painted them red. Later, you can paint them another color to match your décor.
Contemporary containers will look great on each side of the fireplace. You can even put plants in them to them a little extra punch. I used silk agave, which is a succulent, and stuffed the plants with even more ornaments.
To finish off the look, I placed some poinsettias in red painted terra cotta clap pots around.
If you follow this advice, you will have a stunning product when you walk through the front door that is easy to maintain.
