CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - Two servers in Conway received citations for serving alcohol to an underage customer.
LaTresha Woodruff with the Conway Police Dept. said in a press release that the department conducted compliance checks at a variety of restaurants in the city. During a four-hour time period on Wednesday, officers sent a 19-year-old female with an unaltered identification card into eleven businesses.
Nine of the businesses passed. They were: JJ's Bar and Grill, Old Chicago, U.S. Pizza, La Huerta, Los Tres Portrillos, Chilis, TGI Fridays, Kings and the VFW. At those locations, servers asked for identification and did not serve the teen.
Two businesses failed the compliance check. A server at Mike's Place did not ask for identification and served the 19-year-old. Michelangelo's also failed; the server there looked at the underage informant's identification and served her despite the age. The servers were each given $250 citations.
To encourage and verify that servers are only providing alcohol to customers 21 years old and older, officers will continue to conduct compliance checks at varying times and places in the city.
