FORT SMITH, Ark. (KFSM) - The fourth annual Christmas Honors Wreath Laying ceremony was held Saturday, December 8, at the Fort Smith National Cemetery.
Every grave at the national cemetery was honored and decorated with wreaths in less than 7 minutes.
Clint Hill, the secret service agent who jumped on President John F. Kennedy's motorcade moments after the president was shot and killed in 1963, also attended the ceremony. It was Hills first time visiting Fort Smith.
Hill said, "It's a wonderful transformation and a great tribute to each and every one of these veterans that are buried here."
There were more than 50 combat veteran bikers showing support as well as a flyover debut by the 188th Fighter Wing. U.S Senator John Boozman and Mayor Sandy Sanders also spoke at the event.
The wreaths will stay on the headstones through January.
