WASHINGTON (AP) - The Obama administration is praising the special operations forces after a weekend mission freed an American doctor who was abducted by the Taliban in Afghanistan.
President Barack Obama says the mission was characteristic of U.S. troops' "extraordinary courage, skill and patriotism." One member of the rescue team was killed.
Defense Secretary Leon Panetta says, "In this fallen hero, and all of our special operators, Americans see the highest ideals of citizenship, sacrifice and service upheld."
