GARLAND COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - The Garland County Department of Emergency Management is warning residents about a new scam.

According to EM, people are receiving a call from a private number where the caller is claiming to be a representative of AT&T, requesting personal information, and promising a 35 percent reduction in future phone bills.

A call taker was able to request a name and number from the "employee" in question and found the information actually belonged to a retail business in Montana. The owner of the business there said he had recently been overwhelmed with confirmation calls from other who had been contacted.

If you get a suspicious call, do not give out your personal information. If an offer seems too good to be true, it probably is.
