SHERWOOD, Ark.(KTHV) - Inmate Alicia Dawn Ballard, 23, escaped from the Sherwood Urgent Care Unit Sunday, December 16.

A Lonoke County Sheriff's Office report stated that Ballard had been complaining of medical problems and was transported to the Care Unit. After a Detention Officer removed her shackles, Ballard removed her pants and slammed the door in the officer's face before fleeing the building.

Ballard then approached a resident, wearing only a T-shirt and underwear, and asked to use the phone for an emergency. The resident allowed Ballard to use the phone and gave her some clothes. Ballard left the residence while the resident called the police.

Ballard was then picked up off the side of the road by a woman who thought she needed help. The women noticed deputies and police officers searching the area. Ballard told the woman that they were looking for her. The women then drove Ballard straight to the Lonoke Police Department where Ballard ran and was found later hiding in bushes.

Ballard is now facing charges of 2nd Degree escape and a Class B felony.
