LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - State laws regarding landlords and tenants could change soon.
Stephen Giles is part of a non-legislative commission, appointed by the legislature, and the commission's job, to look at whether the laws regarding landlords and tenants need to be changed. It will then report back to Governor Mike Beebe.
"The issues of most importance seem to be the procedures for eviction of residential tenants. There have been a lot of questions about the inhabitability of the premises the landlord would be responsible for under most agreements," said Giles.
Their draft of any proposed changes to the law are supposed to be in the governor's hands by the first of the year.
