Suspect in headlock tries to drive away from scene

BENTON, Ark . (KTHV) - One man is facing a multitude of charges after a homeowner allegedly caught him trying to steal a generator out of their garage.

According to Lt. Scottie Courtney, Joshua Young, 28, is now facing the following charges after a struggle with a homeowner who caught him on their property:

• Aggravated Robbery, Y Felony
• Aggravated Assault, D Felony 2 counts (1 being on law enforcement officer)
• Breaking or Entering, D Felony 2 counts
• Felony Fleeing, D Felony 4 counts
• Attempted theft of property, D Felony
• Theft of Property, C Felony 3 counts
• Felon in possession of firearm, D Felony
• Interference with Law Enforcement, C Felony
• Criminal Mischief, 2nd Degree D Felony
• Resisting Arrest, A Misd
• Riding ATV on public road, Misd

Lt. Courtney said the victim saw Young trying to steal his generator and confronted him; Young then told the victim he just needed gas and pulled money from his pocket to pay him. Police told THV 11 News the victim said he didn't want the money, and Young tried to leave, but the homeowner confronted him again and a fight erupted.

Responding officers said the homeowner got Young into a headlock while Young tried to drive away on his ATV and produced a gun, pointing it at the homeowner.

The victim then went inside his home, grabbed a rifle, and fired ten rounds at Young before Young disappeared into the woods behind the residence.

Young was later arrested while knocking on doors looking for gas or a ride out of the area. He taken to the Saline County Detention Center.
