DALLAS (AP) - Hundreds of Dallas homeless will spend Christmas Eve like Cinderella at the ball.

The Dallas Morning News reports Saturday 500 homeless people will be wined and dined at the plush Omni Dallas Hotel after walking across a red carpet. As they munch on a three-course lunch including short ribs and warm chocolate cake, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet will serenade them and Mayor Mike Rawlings will serve the food as head waiter.

The annual holiday tradition coordinated by SoupMobile began in 2005. In past years, the homeless were treated to a special evening at the Hyatt Regency, but a major renovation at the hotel threatened to end the event.

But the Omni deeply discounted its prices so Soup Mobile could hold the Celebrate Jesus event this year.
