OREGON CITY, OR. (CNN, KGW) - When the coins weren't dropping, a blind bell-ringer in Oregon turned to Christmas carols. Now, he's raising big bucks for a good cause.
"The first time, I just stood here ringing the bell, not knowing what to do, so I got a little bored, so I started whistling, and I noticed people started dropping in money more when I was whistling, and I thought, 'Maybe I'll learn the words and see what happens," said Brian Henderson.
"What I started singing," Henderson said, "all these nice little old ladies said 'Oh, that was my favorite song. Here's some money."
