NEW YORK (CNN) - A passerby found a 30-foot whale on a New York City beach Thursday morning.
Biologists say it is a male Fin whale, the second largest species of whale. It's alive but appears to be injured.
Police have been spraying water on it so it can breathe. Marine experts say the whale may have been sick for awhile and they don't expect it to survive the night.
If it does, the plan is to euthanize it so it has a "human" death.
