WEBSTER, NY (CNN) -- A volunteer firefighter killed in an ambush shooting in upstate New York will be laid to rest later Monday.

Tomasz Kaczowka was fatally shot while on the scene of a house fire in the town of Webster.

A funeral mass in nearby Rochester was attended by hundreds of family members, friends, and colleagues.

Police say the man responsible set the house on fire as a trap and had pre-planned the deadly attack.

A second volunteer firefighter was killed in the attack. Two others were injured.
