LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - With the new year comes many resolutions to save more money and be more financially responsible.

Here are some of Yahoo's Top Tips of 2012 to be Financially Fit:

    1: Bottle Your Own Water.
Getting a reusable bottle rather than buying a bottle everyday could save you almost $400 a year.

    2: Pack your Lunch.
If you are running out to get fast food or a deli sandwich everyday, you could be spending about $8 a day on lunch. If you make it at home, it only costs an average of $3.50. Over a year, that would be a savings of more than $1,600! Some added bonuses include that a home-packed-meal is probably healthier, and you're saving the gas money of running to pick something up.

    3: Stretch Your Portions.
When you are out to eat, cut your meal in half and take the other half home. Even when you are at home cooking, keep in mind that you likely don't need the full pork chop or chicken breast.

    4: Find a Budget Buddy!
Saving money can be hard when your friends are constantly going shopping and out to eat. Find a friend who wants to stay on a budget like you and cook in and rent a movie instead of going out all the time.

    5: Keep Recent Receipts.
Sometimes this is a way to get a discount after you've made a purchase. Many retailers offer a price adjustment if an item you bought goes on sale within 14 days.
