LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) Obedience classes for dogs and their trainers were held, Saturday all for a good cause. The Little Rock Dog Training Club donated those fees to the Paws in Prison Program.
For the past year, The Department of Correction has used dogs for therapy as the inmates train the dogs to be good companions.
"Often these are the dogs overlooked. Maybe they were the wrong color or size or maybe they didn't have that bubbly of a personality. We are trying to give them a second chance," said Dina Tyler with the Department of Correction.
Tyler says inmates train dogs for eight weeks. The animals are then matched with an owner. On Saturday, they raised nearly $2,000.
