LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - A Little Rock Officer was injured while trying to stop a shoplifting/robbery suspect.
According to Cassandra Davis with the Little Rock Police Department, Donovan Jason Fulton, 34, has been charged with first-degree battery against Officer Linda Allen, who was hired onto the force in 1991.
During the shoplifting/robbery incident, Fulton is said to have tried taking a bottle of wine from a Valero on Scott Hamilton Dr. and hit Allen with his car while trying to get away.
He was later found at an Exxon while police were circulating the area near Scott Hamilton Dr. and Interstate 30. Davis said Fulton was inside with a knife demanding beer and cigarettes.
Allen suffered serious injuries from the getaway attempt. The Associated Press reports that she is hospitalized with a concussion after being knocked to the parking lot by the open door of the car.
Davis said Fulton has also been charged with two counts of robbery for the incidents at Valero and Exxon and with driving while intoxicated and driving on a suspended driver's license.
Police did not know if Fulton had an attorney.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
