LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Senator Mark Pryor spent lunchtime at the Kiwanis Club in Little Rock Tuesday. On the menu was a look back at the last year in politics and talk about the future of our economy.
The Senator talked about his disgust with the fiscal cliff negotiations saying they were created by gridlock and dysfunction and should have never happened. But, in the end, a bipartisan deal was reached and Pryor said that is why they run for those jobs-to make hard decisions.
The senator also talked about his wish to implement the same principles that are used by the Simpson-Bowles Debt Commission. He said their ideas would not only simplify tax reform and make tax code across the board more fair, but it would also lower taxes.
Senator Pryor also briefly discussed the recently mentioned cuts at the Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville. While there is no word yet on how many C-1-30's could be cut, the senator said he is not worried about the long term future of the base.
