CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - Conway police arrested Marsha Nacole Oliver, 23, Wednesday in connection with an incident that left her four-year-old son badly burned.

It happened at Oliver's home back in December. Police say the boy has second degree burns over 12 percent of his body.

Oliver said she put the boy and his three-year-old sibling in a bath tub of running water but realized she needed to get clothes for the children. Oliver reported that she took both children out of the bath, then turned the water off. She said at that time the water temperature was normal.

She then told police about five minutes later she heard her son scream and found him in the tub of water. She said she got him out of the water and started applying Gold Bond powder to his peeling skin.

But according to detectives, Oliver's story about how her son got the burns changed several times, and she did not seek medical attention for him until seven hours after the child received the burns.

Doctors told police the boy also had fresh burns, a black and swollen eye, old scars, healed burns, bite marks and facial bruising.

Oliver was arrested and charged with felony first degree battery. She is currently in the Faulkner County jail. Her four children remain in DHS custody.
