LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Baptist Health in Little Rock is working to improve patient care. The hospital announced the formation of a new group called the Baptist Health Physician Partners.

The group is made up of more than 200 doctors and specialists who will be working together to obtain the goal of not only improving care, but also improving safety and reduce costs.

Russ Harrington, president and CEO of Baptist Health, called it a historic benchmark.

"Each of the medical specialties have come together, and they are developing standards of medical care for their specialty that will apply to the patients, and then they will be judged based on how closely they adhere to those standards and how they improve those standards on an annual basis," Harrington explained.

Basically, the group determines how a person with a specific problem should be treated and how quickly they should recover. Doctor will be reviewed, to make sure their care makes the grade.

Harrington said they expect the number of physicians to keep growing.
