CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) -- The city of Conway is looking to grow, and Arkansas Senator Mark Pryor said he wants to help.
Thursday afternoon he sat down with members of the Conway Chamber of Commerce and discussed some of the projects they have in the works like the construction of a new municipal airport and the city's natural gas industry.
He said when it comes to natural gas drilling it the area, it's been a game changer not only for Conway and the state of Arkansas but the entire nation.
"Actually there's well over a million jobs around the country tied to that, and that's important and then you're talking about a lot of revenues for the various states, but you're also taking about kind of related jobs, so for example chemical companies and plastics companies - they're starting to make things in the U.S. again they haven't made in a long time," explained Pryor.
Pryor said the fracking technique used in Faulkner County could also soon give the economy a boost in the Smackover area. He said using fracking, companies will be able to tap into oil deposits that so far have gone untouched.
