JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) Jefferson County authorities say a Mendi Bell was stabbed to death by her husband, George Cage, 31.

It happened on Huntley Trail just before 3 p.m. Saturday, according to deputies. The sheriff's department says deputies were originally called to a shooting at 2:20 p.m., but upon arrival discovered the woman had been stabbed.

Lt. Lafayette Woods says Cage is in custody. 

Cage told authorities he locked her two children out of the house and was not going to surrender unless deputies took him out.
